To critics, and some lawmakers, this is gambling and consumer fraud. To most players, this is just part of the game. It is a game of chance to receive a prize, which to play, one must pay a sum of money. The player often does not know what each loot box contains prior to playing, nor does she know the odds of receiving a desired item. These are commonly known as “loot boxes” and come in a variety of forms, such as llama-shaped piñatas in Fortnite described above. Players may use in-game currency, purchased with real money, to play games of chance in hopes of earning items which might improve the player’s gaming experience.

Alas, he sees the results and sighs in disappointment.
